FRAME MATERIALS AND DESIGNS
Metal frames are made from non-allergenic titanium or stainless steel, or monel metal, a nickel based alloy with excellent properties for frame manufacture. New colourings are particularly attractive, with a choice of matching plastic temples (the sides, or arms) to set off a perfect design. Most metal frames can be repaired if broken.
Plastic frames are in vogue again, after years with the market dominated by metal. Modern plastic materials give properties to plastic frames that can't be found in metal frames. Softer colour blends and better comfort are attributes of many plastic frames.
Semi-rimless. By combining a transparent nylon cord around the lower rim, frames can be made with metal or plastic combinations to give a rimless appearance without the breakage so common with full rimless mounts.
Very current!
Rimless may not be the ideal choice if you want one pair of glasses. With more difficulty fitting, and a higher breakage rate, rimless is better used for dress wear. For evening, they are still very special, and make an excellent second pair.
