PAUL DUNLOP
AND ASSOCIATES began in 1898 when William Dunlop first combined
the art of prescribing lenses with his watchmaking and jewellery skills, offering
home visits in Christchurch and Blenheim.
When joined in 1931 by Clarence Dunlop, a full professional optometric practice
was established in the old Triangle Chambers, moving to New Regent Street
in 1951. After completing a university degree and optometric registration
requirements, Paul Dunlop joined the practice in 1965, introducing contact
lens fitting and an industrial safety vision consultancy.
For over 40 years, a visiting practice was continued in Westland.
In recent years, the skills of optometry graduates have complemented
our professional staff, and highly trained optometric assistants are available
to help with queries, frame choice and adjustments, contact lens tuition,
visual field analysis and visual training.
We strive to offer the highest quality of optometric care, from the examination of your vision to the dispensing and fitting of your spectacles or contact lenses. A very high standard of professional equipment, including state-of-the-art computer assisted examination techniques, is maintained by the regular addition of new technology. Professional staff are kept fully abreast of developments around the world by regular attendance at educational conferences, both in New Zealand and overseas, and current reading of optometric journals.
Only highest quality lenses
and frames are used. With care, your contact lenses and spectacles will give
good service but can't be expected to last indefinitely. All frames carry
a 12 month guarantee against breakage, provided that the frame has not been
subject to unreasonable use or been involved in an accident.

COMPANY PROFILE
NEW
REGENT STREET has been our home for more than 50 years during which
time we have seen a two way street with frequent traffic jams changed to a
one way system.
More recently, it has been converted to a pedestrian only area with al
fresco dining and cafes, specialized businesses, professional care and
restored historic trams moving along their city loop.
Following the Feb
'11 quake, we have moved to the Lincoln Road Medical Centre while issues are
resolved within the CBD.
